Complete guide to using Crono Desktop
FILE UPLOAD PROCESS
Method 1: Upload Button
- Click the "UPLOAD DATA" button in the header
- Click "SCAN" to browse for a file
- Enter a description for the file
- Assign categories by clicking "ASSIGN TYPE"
- Click "EXECUTE UPLOAD" to complete the process
Method 2: Drag & Drop
- Drag a file from your file manager
- Drop it anywhere on the Crono interface
- The upload dialog will open with the file pre-selected
- Complete the description and categorization
- Execute the upload
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Creating Categories
- Click "NEW TYPE" in the upload dialog or category selection
- Enter a category name
- Select a parent category (optional) for hierarchical organization
- Choose an icon from the available options
- Save the category
Managing Existing Categories
- Click the terminal icon next to the category filter
- Use the search box to find specific categories
- Click the edit button to modify category properties
- Click the delete button to remove categories (will also remove from all files)
SEARCH AND FILTERING
Text Search
Use the search box to find files by:
- File name
- Description content
- Category names
Category Filtering
Select a category from the dropdown to show only files in that category (including subcategories).
Combined Search
Use both text search and category filtering simultaneously for precise results.
FILE OPERATIONS
Viewing Files
- Single Click: Edit file description and categories
- Double Click: Open the copied file
- Right Click: Context menu with additional options
File Actions
- Open: Opens the copied file with default application
- Show in Folder: Opens file manager to the copied file location
- Delete: Removes file from archive (original file remains)
BATCH OPERATIONS
Enabling Batch Mode
- Click "BATCH MODE" in the header
- Checkboxes will appear next to each file
- Select files by clicking checkboxes
- Use "SELECT ALL" or "CLEAR" for quick selection
Batch Actions
- Edit Types: Change categories for all selected files
- Export: Export selected files to a folder
- Delete: Remove selected files from archive
WARNING: Batch delete operations cannot be undone. Make sure you have backups before performing bulk deletions.
EDITING FILE INFORMATION
Quick Edit
- Single-click any file row to open the edit dialog
- Modify the description as needed
- Click "ASSIGN TYPE" to change categories
- Save your changes
Bulk Edit Categories
- Enable batch mode
- Select multiple files
- Click "EDIT TYPES" in the batch toolbar
- Choose new categories to apply to all selected files
SORTING AND ORGANIZATION
Column Sorting
- Click any column header to sort by that field
- Click again to reverse the sort order
- Available sort fields: Description, File Name, Archive Date
Organization Best Practices
- Descriptive Names: Use clear, searchable descriptions
- Consistent Categories: Develop a category system and stick to it
- Regular Review: Periodically review and update file descriptions
- Hierarchical Structure: Use parent-child categories for complex organization

NAVIGATION:
Ctrl/Cmd + N → Open upload dialog
Ctrl/Cmd + F → Focus search box
Escape → Close modal/menu
FILE OPERATIONS:
Double-click → Open file
Right-click → Context menu
Enter → Confirm action
BATCH OPERATIONS:
Ctrl/Cmd + E → Export selected files
Ctrl/Cmd + A → Select all (in batch mode)
